You know, I just can't walk past a mirror without taking a self portrait.

All American Heavyweights - (Updated)

I've been shooting at The Rock (Gardena, CA) for about 6 months now. When I first started in early November, not only were the LA Matadors training there, as well as a good number of professional boxers, but also The Rock was the home for the All American Heavyweights(AAH). AAH has a training program dedicated to developing not only great heavyweight boxers but also the next Olympic Gold Medalist in the 201+ lb weight class*. Quite a number of prospective fighters have passed through here, recruited from the college ranks and in most cases not having a boxing background at all. At present 5 athletes are training here.

Dominic Breazeale
2012 National Champ 201+ lb weight class
2012 Team USA (currently in Rio de Janeiro competing for an Olympic spot)

Jon Hamm
2011 National Champ 201+ lb weightclass
Making his pro-debut May 22 at The Sugar Ray Leonard Charity Classic

Charles Martin

Edward Latimore

George Faave

Recently 2012 Team USA (Boxing) has been training here as well, see my earlier post.

* What is the 201+ lb weight class, it is also known as Super Heavyweight in Amateur and Olympic boxing, in professional boxing all fighters over 200 lb (unlimited) are considered heavyweights.
