Night of The Olympians - 5 Olympic Boxers Make Their Pro Debut

Last Friday (Nov 09, 2012), 5 members of the 2012 Men’s Olympic Boxing team made their pro debut. The Golden Boy Promotions event was held at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, CA.
I had been photographing some of these athletes for well over a year. Not only following their amateur career, in addition their training for London as well . Consequently I had a very personal stake in this event, personal enough that I would drive 140 miles each way to cover it.
Here are some of the images from the 5 bouts, which incidentally were televised live on Showtime’s ‘ShoBox the Next Generation’. The images are presented in bouts fought order. As always all images are copyright PeterPolitanoff / RedStarImage, and cannot be reproduced without explicit consent!

All bouts were scheduled for 4 rounds.

Bantamweight - Raushee Warren defeated (UD) Luis Rivera  4/4

Heavyweight - Dominic Breazeale defeated (TKO) Curtis Tate  1/4

Referee Pat Russell checks out Tate before letting him get up.

Light Middleweight - Errol Spence defeated (KO) Jonathan Garcia  3/4

And in the final match,
